Robert A. Simmons, DDS, MAGD

Dr. Simmons graduated from The Medical College of Virginia, School of Dentistry in 1978. He grew up in the Virginia Beach area and decided to return there to open a dental practice. Dr. Simmons has proudly serviced the Chesapeake, VA and North Carolina areas for over 30 years. After all this time, Dr. Simmons remains passionate about the dental profession, quality care, and patient relations.

Because Dr. Simmons is committed to providing the best possible dental care for his patients, he pursues advanced studies through the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.

His continuing education includes:

Dr. Simmons is a Master in the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology’s College of Sedation. This was earned through a culmination of ADSA approved coursework, 40 hours of continuing education, certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and the successful completion of the Masters examination. This achievement further qualifies Dr. Simmons to provide quality care to all of his patients seeking oral conscious or IV sedation.

Dr. Simmons has also achieved the prestigious distinctions of a Fellowship and a Masters in the Academy of General Dentistry. The Fellowship requires 500 hours of certified continuing education as well as the successful completion of an intensive, eight-hour exam covering every aspect of dentistry. The Masters level is achieved by completing an additional 400 hours of hands-on clinical work, plus 200 hours of lecture work. As a result of Dr. Simmons’ passion for learning, the Academy of General Dentistry recently awarded him the 2010 Lifelong Learning & Service Recognition. Recipients of this prestigious honor have not only endeavored to expand their knowledge and experience, but have likewise demonstrated an active involvement in their communities and in the growth of their peers.

When he is not busy with dentistry, Dr. Simmons enjoys playing in various musical groups in the area. He is a member of Sol Libre, which has opened for the Wailers and Norah Jones. He is also playing with Skip Friel and The Resonators.
